China launches new optical remote sensing satellite

Asia's superpower China has successfully launched a new optical remote sensing satellite.

It was launched from the country's northwestern Jiquan Satellite Launch Center at 10:26 a.m. (Beijing time) on Sunday, according to Chinese state media Xinhua.

The Gaofen 905 satellite was launched into orbit by a Long March 2D rocket. It will be used mainly for land survey, town planning, land rights assurance, road network design, crop production forecasting and disaster management and prevention. In addition, a multipurpose test satellite and another satellite named Tiantu 5 have also been launched.
